ART IS MY THERAPY, MY MEDICATION, MY REFUGE.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Carmen Verdi
(1968 – present) VERDI was born into a military family at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts. After graduating high school in 1987, Carmen joined the military before becoming a business owner in the early 90s. In 2006, he began to draw to cope with life's challenges, and in 2014 displayed his artwork to the public for the first time at a local art show in Nashua, NH. Since then, his unique drawing technique and style have helped him gain fans and collectors throughout New England and other parts of the states. His most proud moment was his appearance on NH Chronicle in 2021 on an episode called "Masterpieces in Pencil."
ARTIST
Statement
I'm a self-taught artist. My tools are simple; a mechanical pencil, graphite, charcoal, a kneaded eraser, pencil caps, and cotton paper. I do my work by making thousands of pencil lines side by side on paper to create realistic and robust drawings. In some pictures, I use charcoal as a background. There is no crosshatching in my work or blending of any kind. I mark it and leave it.
I want to tell my story through art and take you inside my strange behavior.
